Jane Campion (born April 30, 1954 in Wellington, New Zealand) is a film director. She is one of a virtually all internationally successful Just released Zealand directors, although virtually all of her act has been processed within or even financed by more countries, chiefly Australia––where she now lives––and a USA. International recognition followed by having the Golden Palm prize at Cannes inside 1993, for The Piano, which won a better director award from either the Australian Film Institute and an Oscar for best screenplay inside 1994.

Silene's operate since that period has been of the systematically high standard, though tending to polarize opinon. the Portrait of a Lady (1996), according to a Henry James novel, featured Nicole Kidman, John Malkovich, Barbara Hershey and Martin Donovan. Holy Smoke (1999) teamed Camption again by having Harvey Keitel, this time sustaining Kate Winslet as the female lead. In the Cut (2003), an erotic thriller according to Susanna Moore's best seller, provided Meg Ryan an opportunity to depart from her extra familiar onscreen persona.
